Friday's Favorite Fives

This week has been very busy; long work days and busy evenings.  I'm very thankful it's Friday and I have found blessings in this week despite the business.  Some of my favorites from the week are listed below.  If you want to share yours, link up to Susanne's site!!

New Study Group
I've been praying about, and searching for, some sort of womens' Bible study. I contacted a friend of mine the other day and she told me that she is going to hold a book discussion (“Bible study”) at her house! Starting November 7th, I will be part of a study going over the book “The Pilgrim's Progress”. I'm so excited to be a part of this!!

Answered Prayers
Last Saturday, my niece fell down the stairs and broke her ankle in three places and had to have surgery. Then, this week, my friend's dad (whom I have known since childhood) had a mild heart attack and a few other things and went to the hospital. I prayed over both of them, both times, and they're both doing well.

Our cell phone carrier is AT&T and we have been very unhappy with them and their service. I was online chatting with them this week complaining about how we spend a lot of money on a plan and have crummy service and they gave us a $50.00 credit on our bill!! That doesn't change the fact that AT&T service stinks in this area, but it helps our bill this month.

My mom and dad both have a birthday this week! My dad lives in Arizona so I had to send his card and text his “happy birthday” but mom lives close by and tonight we're going to gram's for dinner (galumpki!!) and cake (made from scratch by ME) and ice cream!!

Nothing Weekend
My husband and I have been busy every weekend since the beginning of summer. We long for a weekend where we have no plans, no obligations. Last Saturday was supposed to be a “nothing day” but it didn't happen that way. This weekend we are doing things around the house (ie, my husband working on his "workout room", me reading and sewing), making chili, taking dogs for walks, and pretty much taking it easy.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Two.......Better Than One

Why My Husband and I Need Separate Beds

image from

My husband and I sleep in a full bed. Not a queen or a king, but a full. We just haven't upgraded to queen yet (we don't ever want a king). But we both agree that maybe separate beds (twin or full, doesn't matter) would be best. Why? Because..........

~I thrash in my sleep

~I'm up and down all throughout the night to go to the bathroom or stretch my restless legs

~My husband stretches out his arms and sometimes I almost get an elbow in my face

~I sleep in the fetal position which usually means he will get knees in his back

~We both hate feet and cannot stand if ours touch each other

And the biggest problem of all........we are both blanket hogs!!!!!

Those are some reasons why we should have separate beds. I think we would both sleep better and hey, there's no law that says a married couple must sleep in the same bed.

But we have a solution for the blanket issue. On his side, he has a sheet, comforter and fleece blanket. On my side I have my own sheet, comforter and fleece blanket.

It works.

Friday's Fave Fives

Happy Friday, everyone! It's been awhile since I've done the Friday Favorites but I'm glad to be back. Here are my faves for the week.  Link up to Susanne's to enter your favorites!

On Monday, my grandmother and I went to see the movie “Left Behind” (which I highly recommend you see!!). On the way to the theater, we stopped at Burger King for supper (I rarely eat that stuff but when I do, I love it!) and then at the theater bought popcorn. It was an excellent movie and I had a nice time with my grandmother. **See previous blog post about this movie.

I love walking and my husband and I walk our dogs every day; however, since I was so busy on Monday and Tuesday, I didn't get to walk. On Wednesday, after my piano lessons, I was able to walk and I enjoyed every minute of it! It was a beautiful evening, not cold but not hot and the leaves were blowing in the soft wind.

This week, one of my daycare children (and also my 3rd cousin) turned 2 years old so of course we had our usual daycare birthday bash! I made a brownie/cookie treat thing, we played with balloons all day and the kids had a great time. Fridays are Pajama Day (in the fall/winter months) and we also played with balloons today (leftover from the party). I love watching the kids laugh and have fun. And I love wearing my pj's!!

On Sunday, I'm going with friends to their church in Syracuse and then out to lunch after. I'm looking forward to this as I love seeing other churches and theirs sounds pretty awesome. Oh and lunch is a plus!

The last two months have been tough on my husband and I. It seems like one thing after another; Jeep repairs, leaky kitchen faucet, vacuum cleaner breaking, laptop not working, etc. All of that and more, on top of physical ailments we were both dealing with. At one point, I told my pastor I felt like Job from the Bible and joked saying “but none of my animals are dead”. Yeah, that week I was told by our vet that our oldest dog, Luke, may have a heart condition. Oh joy {sarcasm}. BUT!! Through prayer and Bible reading, and the encouragement of family and friends, I feel the hope that is God. I know He hasn't left us and never will. I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I know that everyone goes through things in life and what we're going through could be worse. I also know that I'm determined to stand firm and beat the enemy at all of his attacks. God is faithful and just, He will see us through anything!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! What are some of your faves from this week?

Where Will YOU Be?

Starring Nicolas Cage

I recently went to the theaters to see this movie.  My opinion? PHENOMENAL MOVIE!!! Not only did the movie have some great actors/actresses, there was a lot of action and suspense. So Christian or not, this movie was totally well made!

I am a believer in Christ. I believe that Christ was born to the virgin Mary on earth, lived and then died on a cross, and rose from the dead and now is seated by God in Heaven. I believe that I will go to Heaven when I leave this earth. I also believe in hell and satan and I would never, ever want to be there.

My thoughts are this.....if you're not a believer, I'm sad for you because I know what is coming after the Rapture (and yes, I believe in the Rapture because there is Scripture to back it up). I would not want to be “left behind” to deal with seven years of hell on earth (ie, the Tribulation). I am not only sad for you but scared, and not just because of this movie. I've read the Bible and I've read Revelation. Scary times are coming.

This movie, Left Behind, was basically about believers who were raptured (taken to Heaven by God so as not to endure the tribulation) and non-believers were left behind on earth for seven years; during that period you choose to become a believer or your heart will remained hardened. It's about survival...those who are left behind and end up “coming to Christ” (ie, become “saved”) still have to endure hell on earth.

I've heard a lot of negative things about this movie but I'm guessing they were said/written by non believers because I cannot imagine a believer saying negative things about it.  And if you're a believer who doesn't believe in the rapture, I have two things to say:
~ Dig into scripture and you'll be able to back it up
~ Why wouldn't you want to believe it's true??

I highly recommend that you go and see this movie.

Where's My Chicken???

Do not post anything on Facebook about your missing chicken unless you are absolutely sure your chicken is missing!

On Friday, I bought a package of boneless breasts and put it in my fridge until I was ready to bag and freeze them. On Sunday, I bought one more package because they were on sale. On Monday, I looked in the fridge and saw one package of chicken, and had no clue where the second package was.

Did I leave it in the store? Was it in the Jeep? Did it run away???????

My husband confirmed that it was not left in the Jeep. And it certainly didn't run away.

Oh. Yes. Heh, um, apparently I did separate it on Sunday evening and put it in the freezer, leaving the other package out so we could bake it and slice for sandwiches. I remembered this and told my husband. What does my husband do? He comments on FB about my little confession.

So yeahhhhhhhhhh, I'm crazy and my chicken is safe and sound in the freezer.

Sisters, Sisters!

My sister recently visited “home” again and we had a lot of fun, as usual. Leah is 14 months older than I am and though growing up we weren't terribly close (typical sister fights) we have been close as adults. I hate that she lives several states away BUT I think we get along better when we don't see each other all of the time.

We did a lot in the short time she was visiting. She stayed at our house but mom got to have a lot of time with her, just the two of them (shopping, coffee, etc).

On a Saturday, my husband and I had Leah all to ourselves. We did a lot in one day. First, her and Joe (my husband) took the dogs for a long walk on a nearby trail. Later, the three of us went on a hike at this awesome place that has caves and waterfalls. The hike was interesting. I've been on this particular trail in the past and have had no problems, yet this time I fell. Twice. Oh, nothing was hurt - except my quad on one leg where I caught myself, and a little bit of pride - but otherwise I was fine. Also, Leah made a little friend on this hike. A little boy (maybe 5 or 6?) was hiking with his family and took an immediate liking to my sister and followed her around...until we managed to ditch them and move on, bahahahaaa. And other than Leah finding a dead mouse in the water by the falls, it was a good day.

Later, we went out to dinner at one of my favorite places, Ninety-Nine, then came home, got in our “cozies” and drank wine while watching “Pee Wee's Big Adventure”. It was a pretty awesome day.

Another night, my husband made his awesome homemade pizzas and we had my mom, gram and cousin over. For dessert, we had homemade apple pie (made by 'yours truly'). At one point, since so many of us wanted to talk at once, my sister made us pass around a candle lighter which she called “the talking stick”. You could only speak when holding the stick. Of course we had a lot of laughs and got silly with that because everyone wanted “the stick”.

Speaking of a lot of laughs, here's a good one. One morning, I woke up and reached for my box of tissues but they were not next to my bed where I put them before falling asleep. I later found the box of tissues in Leah's room! She stole my tissues while I was sleeping. WHO DOES THAT???? Sisters. Sisters do that.

On Leah's last day here in NYS, her and our mother and I went out to breakfast and then to the local nature trail for a nice hike. Later, we went to gram's to have coffee before Leah had to pack and head to the airport.

Now Leah is back to her own home and we are missing her but we had fun and a lot of laughs.
